Cabarete is a beautiful small town on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic.
Often referred to by visitors as “Paradise”, it lies on a strip of land with the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the lagoon and mountains of El Choco National Park on the other.
Over the last fifteen years word of Cabarete’s perfect wave and wind conditions have spread around the world, transforming it from a sleepy fishing village into the surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing capital of the Caribbean.
Although sports fans and adventure seekers now come flocking to Cabarete, it has maintained its slow pace of life and Caribbean charm. With more than 300 sun-filled days every year and an average air and watter temperature between 25-30 C (80-90 F), this is a perfect place for both sports freaks and sun-loving lazy bones.
In this paradise, there is something for everyone from anywhere. Spend your days surfing, kiteboarding, windsurfing, horseback riding, kayaking, paddle boarding or going on one of the excursions.
During your down time, stroll around town to shop and mingle with the friendly locals, both Dominican and international.
If you’re here to unwind, spend your days relaxing on the beach with a good book and a smooth tropical drink. The warmth of the sun and sound of the waves will ease your mind in minutes.
For those who find themselves in this idyllic place, the fun often continues after the sun goes down. In the evenings, romance is all around, as locals and visitors dine together at the candle-lit tables lining the beach.
With their toes in the sand and a good drink in hand, they share stories, experiences and hopes for the future. Around ten o’clock, the sounds transition from soothing lounge music to pop, rock, salsa, merengue, bachata and electronic tunes. It’s party time.
